I was wrong, unfortunately. The registrar can cut off DNS resolution and park the domain almost immediately (showing a parking page), sometimes as soon as the day after expiration.

A private message on Flickr gives little hope of being read (it's not the best thing, far from it). Fortunately I found a 2nd account X (Twitter) of the owner of the forum where he is also very active and there I can contact him privately, it's a small miracle. I'm going to send him a message. If he is no longer the owner (which would surprise me), he might be able to put me in contact with the new owner if that is the case.

I contacted the current owner or the previous one if he passed on ownership, which is possible.

I left him messages on X (Twitter), Bsky and Flickr privately. I kept quiet in public but privately on Flickr I was able to tell him more. I will see if I have other ways to contact him as I have his full real name (which I can't reveal here of course). Nylonfantazy, I wish you a happy birthday despite what is happening with Phforum. Ghostup ok understand, yes its not been easy to get in touch with him, and right now it looks like no other Admins around. So the only way is to get in touch with owner of the site

RandomGuy, I want to reassure you a little. The domain expires on August 25th, but the current owner can still renew it during a so-called "grace period" (usually 30 days). If nothing happens, then it's a Redemption Period. The domain is deactivated, but the owner can still buy it back, paying a higher fee. Duration: approximately 30 additional days. Then the domain is in the Pending Delete queue (5 to 7 days). This is a disaster scenario that I do not want. For my part, I can help contact the owner through his many social networks: LinkedIn, Flickr, Twitter, etc.
